Comparative Study on the Effectiveness Between Intensive Outpatient Care and Partial Hospitalization Treatments in Patients Diagnosed with Eating Disorders

Patino LD, Yudchak CG, Barbieri DP, Stramesi JM, Champagne V, Ramundo MP

In the present study, conducted on a sample of 39 patients diagnosed with Eating Disorders (EA), evaluated after one year of treatment in the modality of "Intensive Outpatient" care (IO), compared to the evolution of other patients, who were in treatment in the modality of "Partial Hospitalization" (PH). A statistically significant difference was observed on the improvement in the number of medical discharges depending on the treatment modality used [Chi-squared with correction for continuity (1)=8.685; p=0015 (unilateral)], being the IO modality the one that gave the highest amount of discharges, as it was assumed. The variation between one another was 14.44%, calculated from the value of Phi=380.
