Dating back to the 17th century, the discovery of cells by early microscopists and the subsequent formulation of the cell theory revolutionized biology, leading to our current understanding of cellular structure and function. Cells exist in diverse forms, ranging from prokaryotic to eukaryotic, each with unique characteristics and organelles that govern essential cellular processes.

This abstract provides an overview of the structure and functions of cells, including energy production, protein synthesis, cellular transport, and cell division.
